If you are planning a trip to Sweden this summer make sure that Kalmar, in southeast Småland, is on your itinerary. The town has recently been voted ‘Best Swedish Summer Town’ for the second year running. The vote was conducted among visitors to travel site Reseguiden, with this year’s poll garnering just over 37,000 votes. (Last year there were just over 26,000 votes).

So, what makes Kalmar so special, apart from being a pretty coastal city on Sweden’s south east coast? Get this: it has a beach called Kattrumpan – the Cat’s Bottom – how can we resist?
